ASSISTANT CRUISE DIRECTOR / ACTIVITIES MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Primary role of the ACD/AM is to assist the Cruise Director in the overall management of the entertainment division and be the second in command and able to take over the Cruise Director duties when needs. The ACD/AM will host multiple activities throughout the cruise.

String administrative and managerial skills are required for this position and the ability to schedule and mange the Cruise Staff team.

This position will concentrate on socializing with guests and making them feel part of the Entertainment program on board.

Hosting skills are essential and the ability to speak a second language preferred.

Ideal candidates will be outgoing, charismatic and enjoy social activities.

Previous experience in the Entertainment Industry is preferred and at least two years experience in a managerial role.

 

DUTIES will include but are not limited to:

·      Socializing and interact with the guests onboard throughout the ship at all times.

·      Visit guest lounges at allocated times and converse with as many guests as possible.

·      You will be involved in meet and greet events including Captain’s cocktails and Repeater Party’s helping with the flow of the reception lines.

·      Gangway duties to include meet and greets, organizing tour lines and crowd control, scheduling staff.

·      PA announcements and the ability to oversee the passenger Boat drill and safety announcements.

·      Staff schedules and budget management.

·      Ownership of revenue activities such as bingo.

·      The ability to host and co-host ship board TV shows.

·      As ACD/AM you will need strong hosting skills and the ability to engage an audience whilst hosting events such as Trivia’s, Bingo, Game shows and Pool games.

·      You will be heavily involved with all the Theme Nights, including interacting with the guests, teaching simple line dances and adding to the overall experience of the guests in various lounges around the ship.

·      You will be required to dress in costume to fit theme nights and provide some fancy dress items yourself.

·      All Entertainment Staff will need to show good microphone skills and friendly demeanor while presenting activities in a clear and proper manner.

 

Additional Requirements:

·      All applicants must have worked in a professional capacity as MC preferably with experience in a holiday camp or resort.

·      All staff MUST comply with all company policies and procedures, along with all maritime rules and regulations.

·      Participate in required Emergency duties as specified in the ship Assembly Plan.

·      The ACD/AM is a responsible for the maintenance of all cruise staff equipment, inventories and ordering of stock.

·      String computer skills required.

·      Assist in the facilitation of crew events, as needed.

·      Follows scripts, as necessary.

·      Execute additional job responsibilities.

·      Dress smartly at all times and be prepared to work a 70-hour, 7-day week.

·      At least two years experience of hosting events and managing a team.

·      Background in leisure/entertainment/ tourism preferred.

·      You must complete a pre-employment medical and obtain a criminal background check before being considered for an onboard position.

·      Cabins are generally shared with another crew member of the same gender, based on position onboard.

·      Contracts are usually 6 months long with 4-6 weeks’ vacation.
