CRUISE DIRECTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Cruise Director is the face of the ship and holds a very unique position. The Cruise Director is responsible for ensuring that all guests on board the ship have the vacation of a lifetime and it is essential that he or she possesses a strong and charismatic personality, has the ability to host stage shows and has excellent people and time management skills.

The Cruise Director should be one of the first people onboard to meet and greet with the passengers and the last one to bid them farewell.

This position will concentrate on socializing with guests and making them feel part of the Entertainment program on board.

Hosting skills are essential and the ability to speak a second language preferred.

 

Ideal candidates will be outgoing, charismatic and enjoy social activities.

Previous experience in the Entertainment Industry is required and at least three years of experience as an entertainment manger or cruise director

 

DUTIES will include but are not limited to:

·      Socializing and interact with the guests onboard throughout the ship at all times.

·      Managing a large team of over 80 people including Cruise Staff, Youth Staff, Sports Staff, Production Cast members, Technical teams, Musicians and Guest Entertainers.

·      The ability to put together a 14-day cruise program and schedule events.

·      The ability to liaise with upper management and converse at an executive level.

·      At all time the Cruise Director will be seen as the face of the ship and dress and behave appropriately.

·      Previous experience in the entertainment or leisure industry a must.

·      Excellent Computer skills.

·      Strong time management skills.

·      The ability to be unflappable during difficult situations and able to trouble shot problems.

·      Visit guest lounges at allocated times and converse with as many guests as possible.

·      You will be involved in meet and greet events including Captain’s cocktails and various shipboard functions.

·      Daily meetings with your team and shipboard management.

·      The ability to host port talks and makes PA announcements.

·      The ability to host shipboard TV shows and “ad lib” as needed.

·      The Cruise Director is responsible for all shipboard safety announcements and must be prepared to be on call at any time to go to the bridge during an emergency.

·      Strong hosting skills and the ability to engage an audience whilst hosting events such as Trivia’s, Bingo, Game shows and Pool games.

·      Host various theme nights such as 70,s discos, rock and roll night etc. These include interacting with the guests, teaching simple line dances and adding to the overall experience of the guests in various lounges around the ship.

·      Required to dress in costume to fit theme nights and provide some fancy dress items.

·      The Cruise Director is expected to wear smart business wear and evening attire, which he/she is expected to provide.

·      Gangway duties in each port of call and able to begin early in the morning and be visible late in the evening.

·      Host production shows and guest entertainers.

·      Strong administrative skills and some knowledge of budgeting, inventories and time sheets an advantage.

·      Do weekly shipboard inspection and at all times ensure all Entertainment logs and timesheets are up to do date.

Additional Requirements:

·      All staff MUST comply with all company policies and procedures, along with all maritime rules and regulations.

·      Participate in required Emergency duties as specified in the ship Assembly Plan.

·      Cruise Staff are responsible for the maintenance of all equipment.

·      Assist in the facilitation of crew events, as needed.

·      Follows scripts, as necessary.

·      Execute additional job responsibilities.

·      Language skills are an advantage.

·      The ability to sing/dance/ perform a variety act an advantage.

·      Dress smartly at all times and be prepared to work a 70-hour, 7-day week.
